Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Optimize your quality of life by optimizing your pelvic health.
Guess what? Leaking, symptoms of prolapse, pelvic pain, urinary frequency, uncomfortable intercourse and menopausal changes don’t have to hold you back. You can achieve better pelvic health!
Ireland Manual Physiotherapy is able to help both women and men with pelvic pain (including with intercourse and menstruation), incontinence, pelvic floor weakness, pelvic floor tightness, urgency, prolapse, concerns relating to constipation and menopause, post-prostatectomy care, pre-and post-partum support, recovery after gynecological surgery, and can even help with bedwetting, delayed potty training and leaks your kiddos may be having.
Corey Ireland is our team’s pelvic health physiotherapist and she empathizes that this can be a sensitive and vulnerable matter, and as such she ensures all aspects of your privacy and integrity.
What to Expect
We send out a comprehensive intake form prior to your appointment. We do understand that this form requests vulnerable and sensitive information. In addition, this form is intended as a catch-all intake and some questions may not pertain to you. We are respectful of the fact that disclosure of some of this information is difficult. Alternately, you can request a paper form or you can discuss sensitive information directly with your pelvic health physiotherapist. The purpose of the intake is to help your physiotherapist identify all of the direct and indirect factors that may be contributing to your concerns so that we can address them together as efficiently as possible.
During your appointment, an internal exam (vaginal or rectal) may provide beneficial information in creating a tailored treatment plan for you. Outside of pessary assessments, a speculum for vaginal examinations is not routinely used and much care is put forth to avoid any discomfort. Ultimately, you, as our client always are respected in your choice to defer or forego an internal examination. (No internal exams are performed on our pediatric clients).
